Supporting Camp Wabun

There are many ways to support Camp Wabun through the Wabun Foundation. These would include the Annual Fund, endowment funds, and other methods. All of these are described in detail below.

Annual Fund: The Annual Fund is the simplest and quickest way to show your support. Wabun’s Annual Fund supports important areas of need for Wabun including administration, programming, maintenance, equipment, and scholarships.  Please help us reach our yearly donation goals by clicking the donate button below. Wabun Foundation is a US 501c3 Charitable Organization (EIN 47-4480383).

Endowment Funds: With a gift of $25,000 or more, a named endowment fund can be established. You can also donate to support our existing endowment funds. For information about establishing a fund or contributing to an existing fund, please contact Phoebe Knowles at phoebe.knowles@wabun.org.

  • Wabun Foundation General Endowment Fund: Income from these funds are used to meet the greatest needs of the Foundation.
  • Gail and Hardin Coleman Family Scholarship Fund: This scholarship fund will support campers with a preference for candidates who live in Philadelphia, Boston, or other Gateway Cities in Massachusetts.
  • Bill Olmsted and Dave Thompson Scholarship Fund: Bill Olmsted and Dave Thompson started as trip staff for Camp Wabun in 1966 and 1968 respectively. They were life-long educators, dedicated to improving the world for others; thanks to the generosity of Philip Rockwood who provided the seed money for this fund, the primary focus of this scholarship is to facilitate access to Wabun for Temagami First Nation/Teme-Au-gama Anishnabai members, First Nation, and other children of color.
  • Reid Parker Capital Improvement Fund: Reid T. Parker was a Wabun camper in 1983 and 1984. The goal of this fund is to support Wabun’s enduring viability and future. Funds from this endowment will be utilized for Wabun’s medium and long-term capital improvements.
  • The Libby Moore Sustaining Fund: This fund was established by Libby Moore’s husband and children to honor her love of Lake Temagami and to continue her commitment to Wabun Foundation’s mission to provide youth access to a wilderness canoe tripping experience. In recognition of evolving needs, this fund supports Wabun’s greatest needs as circumstances evolve. Gifts to this fund will be managed as if they were permanent endowment funds. However, the Board, in times of an emergency, may draw down from the corpus following special votes and, in those occasions, funds would be used for Wabun’s greatest needs.
